Member’s Show Review

Standard

Throughout the year, NSAA’s art can be viewed at many galleries in the area. Currently, the Annual Members Show is being showcased at the Sensory Winery and Art Gallery. It features 19 artists, with many diverse works of art and art mediums . Even with this range of artists and mediums, the beauty of Chautauqua County can be felt in each piece. The landscapes, mood and colors of the area have influenced each of the artists, and combined with their individual skills, this makes for a room filled with inspiring artwork. The host of the evening, Sensory Gallery, is a wine-bar and art gallery with a very nice, intimate feel. Like NSAA, Sensory also appreciates the relationship between fine wine and fine art and offers samples, as well as wine for sale by the glass or bottle. Sensory is one of the many local galleries that are members of NSAA, and with cross-branding as good as art and wine, it is easy to see the benefits of their relationship.

The Annual NSAA Member’s Show is running now through January 25, 2014.

The Art Trail

Standard

NSAA strives to bring art and the community together. The Chautauqua-Lake Erie Art Trail is an opportunity for the public to get an up close and personal with the art of the county. This event brings visitors into the homes and work spaces to better understand and appreciate the art, as well as the artists themselves.

Thomas Annear, founding member and Art Trail artist, explains, “The event is a unique opportunity for our guests to come into our homes and studios. You get to see where we create, how we live with our art, view works in progress often being created right before your eyes, ask the artist questions and to purchase works directly from the artist.”

This event not only showcases the best artwork of the county, it also promotes the local community, to create a one of a kind “best of Chautauqua” tour. The Art Trail is sponsored by many local businesses as Annear adds, “What really makes us different from other arts trails is our list of sponsors [which include] places to eat and stay, fun and funky gift shops, framers and most importantly the galleries. It completes the experience.”

This quote from Annear best explains the real love these artists have for the area:

“As artist, the work we do is always personal. Our life experiences serve as the foundation for everything we create. We extract ideas, visions and dreams from our day-to-day lives. That energy becomes deeply embedded in our work. We draw inspiration from one of the most picturesque regions of New York State. Come see what we see and love everyday– the verdant vineyards and fields, the lush forests, the rolling hills, and the spectacular Lake Erie.”

Amongst the natural beauty of Chautauqua county, these artists garner their inspiration and choose to live their lives. It is here, as community members, that they are working to further develop art into the spirit of our community.

The Art Trail is a great opportunity to look into the makings of art in a wide variety of mediums. See something different, learn a new technique or simply relax and take it all in with a glass of wine. This event is truly designed to be a relaxing road trip around the county, including stops at the finest local artist’s homes and work spaces to personally connect with the art of the area.

Connect with the art of Chautauqua at the 6th Annual Art Trail, May 24 & 25, May 31 & June 1, 2014.
